Copenhagen Games has always wanted to embrace the gaming community ranging from casual gamers to professional esport players. It is our goal to include everyone and to make the greatest gaming event of the year - every year! With this in mind, we have decided to make some changes in our CS:GO Main tournament structure.
CS:GO Main tournament structure
Starting 2020, we're changing up the tournament structure of the CS:GO Main tournament at Copenhagen Games. This means that starting next year, we will no longer extend invites to teams to participate in our CS:GO Main tournament. The Main tournament previously consisted of 4 invited teams and 4 qualified teams from the Main qualifier. From 2020, every team that wants to attend the CS:GO Main tournament will have to sign up to participate.
With this change in the tournament structure; all participating teams will compete against each other with the same starting point on an even playing field - and it's bound to be an exciting tournament!
We're excited to embrace the esports community and have everyone get the same chance to participate on the same foundation of competition no matter of rank and team name.
In connection with these changes, we will also increase the spotlight on the CS:GO B tournament prize pool, so more teams get a bigger slice of the cake.
Overview of the CS:GO Main tournament in 2020
- No team invites
- No Main qualification tournament - just one tournament from Thursday to Saturday
- Teams who do not qualify for the Main playoffs will play in the B tournament with a bigger-than-ever prize pool.
We sincerely hope that teams and participants will welcome this change of structure of the CS:GO Main tournament and we can’t wait to see you next Easter!
