When we decided to make the 2018 Copenhagen Games our biggest event ever, we knew we would need serious and dedicated partners at our side - partners that could help us up our prize pools and who would be as dedicated to the future of esport as we are. This is why we're very proud and excited to reveal top-of-the-line broadband and television provider Waoo as our main CS:GO tournament sponsor and to further reveal a minimum prize pool for this tournament of 100.000$!
With the new prize pool, we hope to secure top-tier invites for this year's tournament so that we may give our audiences, world-wide as well as in-house, the best possible experience. At Bella Center Copenhagen, we're expanding our streaming setup, our stage setup and our pro team lineup - this is a very exciting time for Copenhagen Games and owner and CEO of Copenhagen Games, Zahid Butt, is understandably thrilled;
"Waoo has been a significant name in the world of esport for a while now which is why I'm so happy they decided to sign on as the main sponsor of Copenhagen Games 2018. Lightning fast, fibre optic broadband ensures optimal conditions for an event such as ours and no one does that better than Waoo."
Esport is growing rapidly, this is no secret. Top players are becoming public superstars and professional teams travel the world on a weekly basis. Copenhagen Games has shaped esport from the very beginning and with Waoo at our side, we get to continue our part in its ever-changing story. Through the years, the Copenhagen Games' brand has stood for dependability and an unmatched passion for gaming, this is what attracted the attention of Waoo CEO Jørgen Stensgaard.
"Esport has long been a special focus area for us and so we're very happy to support Copenhagen Games, one of the largest, most well-established events in Denmark. Our fibre optic broadband product is already a perfect match for esports, but we're also seeing esport move into the entertainment universe with a stronger and wider appeal than ever before. Esport is evolving into a solid TV product which interests more and more of our customers and when our customers ask for a quality product, we're happy to deliver."
As Zahid Butt mentioned, Waoo's dedication to gaming is nothing new. Their involvement stretches back years and it'll continue in the years to come, says Jørgen Stensgaard.
"Back in 2016, we were the first TV-distributor to offer a dedicated esport channel which quickly turned out to be a huge success. Since then we've become sponsors of the esport team Tricked and we've created the Waoo CS:GO league and the Waoo league. Just a few months ago we exclusively added Pixel.tv to our TV channel roster, a channel that focuses specifically on esport and gaming."
The future of esport will be shaped by its communities and its business partners. To us, it's important that our partners have the best interest of the industry and the community at heart - with Waoo we've been never been more confident. We have several exciting initiatives lined up for our players and visitors at Bella Center Copenhagen this year but a strong, well-funded main tournament remains our flagship. We hope to see all CS:GO fans out there this Easter and we encourage everyone to keep an eye on our webpage and social media outlets for future updates on our main tournaments and new event features.
