Gamers know the value of winning but we also know that some fights are more important than others and some you can’t win alone. This year, Copenhagen Games and The Danish Cancer Society join forces in the fight against cancer and we invite you, our community, to join us in supporting young people and children in this most crucial of fights.
Copenhagen Games is lucky to have what we consider the best community in eSports today. Thousands of players, guests and volunteers share their passion for gaming with us every year and that’s essentially what keeps us going event after event. Now we invite you to direct that passion and commitment towards our new partner, The Danish Cancer Society.
The Danish Cancer Society will not only have a physical presence at this year’s event, we have also integrated an option to support them directly with additional funding when you purchase a ticket for Copenhagen Games 2018. During your purchase process, keep an eye out for a button that allows you to directly support the fight against cancer - it’s a fight that concerns us all, directly or through people we know and love. We talked with Head of Events Lise Atzen Bjerregaard about our partnership and why they chose to work with us.
‘Copenhagen Games is more than professional gaming, it’s about building community. We believe that cancer touches us all as a community and so it should be battled by us all, as a community. That’s why we’re proud to work with Copenhagen Games in our fight against cancer. Esport is the new everyman’s sport, it’s the sport of young and future generations and this is where we need to be to reach out effectively and compassionately. Every year, hundreds of children and young people are diagnosed with some form of cancer and more than 23.000 children today live with a parent who has been diagnosed with some form of cancer. They all need help in their own way and we are here for them, but first we must reach them and the eSport community is perfect for us to achieve this. This is a partnership we’re tremendously excited about for sure.’
I think we can all agree that there is no nobler fight than this, no better team to join. We urge our community to reach out to The Danish Cancer Society at our event and we hope you will help us raise money for their cause when you buy a ticket to this year’s event!
