Third Invite Confirmed: Heroic

With just three weeks to go before Copenhagen Games 2018, the mood is getting tense and the tournaments are filled to the brink. The hype is getting very real!

It’s not secret that we’ve invested heavily in our Waoo CS:GO Main tournament this year and we’re seeing top teams join our lineup as a consequence. A couple of weeks ago, North was the first top invite to be confirmed for Copenhagen Games and it’s with great pleasure that we now add another Danish elite roster to the lineup: Heroic!

Heroic has been a part of the international elite for a couple of years now and so they’ve contributed enormously to the growth we’ve recently seen in Danish esport. They’ve really helped build the CS:GO community in Denmark during a crucial time and that’s the sort of thing we love to see at Copenhagen Games. That sort of success didn't come out of nothing, though. Heroic has proud roots that stretch all the way back to the legends of early esports and that sort of thing matters, says Zahid Butt, CEO of Copenhagen Games:

“The Heroic organisation is a brainchild of previous top players that stretch all the way back to SK Gaming - a name that should hold special significance for dedicated fans of CS. It’s been truly fascinating to watch these remarkable players and organisations develop and grow over time and along with the sport. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what Heroic can do at Copenhagen Games 2018!”

Heroic is a team that travels the world on a regular basis, visiting and competing in the biggest tournaments on the circuit. For them, though, there’s still something quite special about playing in front of a home crowd and giving back to their Danish fan base, says Marco ‘Snappi’ Pfeiffer of Heroic:

“We’re very excited about the opportunity to participate in this year’s Copenhagen Games. We’re usually travelling to international venues around this time but this year we have the chance to play in Denmark og hopefully meet some of our many Danish fans. We can feel an every-increasing support from home and that’s something everyone in the team really appreciates. It’s going to be great in Copenhagen and we’ll do everything to win the tournament, of course. We’re really close to top ten in the world right now and even though the competition is tough, we always want to climb higher. Most of all, though, we’re just looking forward to playing in front of a massive crowd of Danish CS fans.”

This Easter, there’s really something special lined up in Bella Center Copenhagen for Danish CS fans. Time will tell if the Danish top teams can deliver and give the fans what they want but it is sure to be exciting either way! As Zahid Butt puts it:

"The only thing that’s better than one Danish elite team playing Copenhagen Games, is two Danish elite teams! With North and Heroic, we’re really giving Danish CS:GO fans a unique opportunity to watch their heroes live."
